about
"5th Ave" is a joyful love letter to summer in the city. Recorded at home in Philadelphia but written during my time living in Brooklyn a decade ago, this song showcases my a cappella roots with complex vocal harmonies serving as the backbone. “5th Ave” is playful and groovy, with tight vocals beautifully delivered by fellow Philly artists and dear friends of mine, Ryan Tennis and Rachel Andie. Complementing the vocal flourishes are Elliot Garland on bass AND keys and Joseph Keim on drums, who expertly support the song with their locked-in soulful, and feel-good groove. My bandmate and housemate Ethan Cain lovingly recorded and mixed the song at our home studio in Roxborough, and one of my favorite collaborators and songwriters, Marcus Cohen, mastered it. My close friend, designer Lisa Lotito did the artwork design for the song, using an old cell phone photo of mine from my Brooklyn days.
lyrics
do you ever walk down 5th avenue in brooklyn?
have you ever seen a summer night like this?
do you ever walk down 5th avenue in brooklyn?
i'm taking a stroll, i'm all alone,
i don't think i've ever felt such bliss
if you see me walkin' down the street, stop and say hello to me
if you see me walkin' down the street, stop and say hello
hello!
do you ever walk, do you ever talk, do you ever fall in love
do you ever walk, do you ever talk, do you ever fall in love
in brooklyn?
